One Table

As the One Table Show team, Tacoma artists Anida Yoeu Ali, Derek Nunn, Masahiro Sugano, and Jesi Vega stage innovative original theatrical performances in bars, restaurants, and cafes throughout Tacoma. Through its unique format, One Table can serve three audiences: Tacoma locals who may not think of themselves as theater goers but who enjoy a night out, Tacoma artists seeking to expand their creative networks and engage in new collaborations, and Tacoma business owners. Tacoma's creative scene in general has needed a regular, low-cost, event where diverse audiences can count on being entertained and provoked and where they can socialize with old friends and make new ones. We've also needed a venue that could expand our scope beyond the same old faces and neighborhoods and create a scene whose diversity reflects the city itself. In its first year, One Table has been able to serve all three overlapping communities in a way that is entertaining and meaningful. We've given newbies the opportunity to perform for the first time and experienced performers the opportunity to stretch themselves in a new format. We've brought new business to establishments in different neighborhoods and provided a unique entertaining night out for Tacomans.
